Abstract

This documentary research examines the application of high-performance sports principles to university learning. A review of specialized literature (2000–2025) identifies motivation, deliberate practice, resilience, discipline, and teamwork as transferable competencies that foster academic performance. Recent studies show that students with sports experience develop higher levels of self-efficacy, academic persistence, and success. The study concludes that incorporating these principles into educational processes can strengthen learning, time management, and the holistic development of students. Its main contribution lies in analyzing this relationship from a Latin American perspective, a context where scientific evidence remains limited.
