Diagnostic assessment system for physical fitness in non-sporting contexts for eighth-grade students at the Unidad Educativa Particular Borja in Cuenca, Ecuador.
Abstract
The aim of the study was to design and validate a diagnostic testing system to assess physical fitness in non-sporting contexts among eighth-grade students at the Unidad Educativa Particular Borja (UEPB) in Cuenca. A quantitative approach was employed, utilizing a pre-experimental pretest-posttest design with a purposive sample of 50 students. Functional tests measuring strength, speed, endurance, flexibility, and coordination—validated via the Delphi method—were used. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon test. Results showed significant improvements in all physical capacities assessed (p < 0.05). It is concluded that the system serves as a valid tool for implementing pedagogical interventions within Physical Education lesson planning.
