Farmer Field Schools as a training strategy for Nopal producers in Puebla, Mexico.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to analyze the implementation of farmer field schools as a component of a technical support strategy aimed at Nopal producers in the municipalities of Acatzingo, Quecholac, and Tepeaca, Puebla. A descriptive study was conducted by systematizing technical records of training sessions, workshops, technical assistance, exchange visits, and activities carried out during 2024. The results demonstrate that this strategy fostered practical learning, knowledge exchange, active participation, and capacity building for sustainable crop management. It is concluded that farmer field schools represent a relevant strategy for strengthening technical support, continuous learning, and capacity building among rural producers.
