Citizen perception of solar panel users and the promotion of sustainability education in driving clean energy adoption in the southern region of Tamaulipas state.

Abstract

This research aims to foster environmental education by examining the perceptions of residential solar panel users and their interactions with the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE)—specifically regarding cost amortization, electricity bill payments, and investment recovery rates—as well as their experiences with the private companies providing the service. The study explores five theories that strengthen educational interaction among key stakeholders and includes a legal analysis of the technology's use. A mixed-methods research approach was adopted, utilizing a 17-question survey (processed in Excel) administered to a sample of 49 solar panel users across the cities of Tampico, Ciudad Madero, and Altamira; the resulting findings offer significant insights for establishing guidelines to shape applied public policies.
